I disabled those back when the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection shut down but left the fields in so I could cross-reference people's Friend Codes later if necessary ("who is this 'Shadow' guy on such-and-such game?"). Apparently, moderators can still view them.
Yeah, I was doing some analysis of the game boards. I probably forgot to mark a board as not counting, or a board was moved into an area where it does count when things were re-tallied.
About ten users had their post counts significantly increase when I made everything count, and while I had about 11,000 posts in total, I believe there were two others with more posts than me.
Hey Cat, it's been a while. Anyways I'm working on a remix, and I've got a sneak preview here. I was wondering if you could listen to it and tell me if you hear any clipping in it, you being the audiophile that you are. I think the video's audio peaks at around +3db, I turned it up intentionally because I thought my videos in general seemed quieter than everyone else's. Doesn't sound to me like it's clipping though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBFr2-HUN4o
Yeah, I was having trouble with the login script saying that the collation of the database and the provided text didn't match. Oddly, the code is nearly identical to that of the adopts, and that was having a completely different problem after the move. Rather than stress myself over trying to fix it, I just disabled logging in until I could figure out what was going on, as nobody had made anything recently. If you intend to use it, I can certainly try to fix it.
Dead links can cause major problems for people coming to threads months or years down the road in general, not just the art request threads (which is where I brought up the issue). Those folks will come by and see a completely useless thread because all the images no longer exist. Others may want to download the images for various reasons (typical for meme faces and game sprites, for instance) but no longer can do so. In some cases, the image no longer exists anywhere, as the original uploader has long since formatted their computer and the site has dropped it from their archives.
As for those particular examples, I'm gonna drop that redirect in a few weeks.
While moderators are less likely to come across infringing content on visitor messages, they are actually easier to moderate because messages can be deleted at the discretion of the profile owner. The only problematic scenario I can imagine is when the page cannot load, or the deletion function cannot be accessed otherwise. Should there be no fail-safe way for a moderator to bypass the obstacle to delete an immobilizing post, then DIV shouldn't be enabled to allow for the scant but dangerous possibility of that happening.
Then again, I'm not sure if there's such a fail-safe system in place for forum posts, either. If someone were to make a post that prevented me from deleting it (I do have a Firebug plug-in that lets me manipulate the elements of a webpage, but most mods don't), would there be any workaround that would allow for it to be deleted?
Threads are easier to moderate, though. User profiles aren't something that should have text floating in weird places or embedding a zillion YouTube videos.
DIV abuse is possible in forum posts. So why allow DIV there? Because people can refrain from abusing it knowing that they'll get punished for doing so. The same philosophy ought to apply to visitor messages, therefore I see no harm in enabling custom tags.
Also, we had this same discussion December 2010 xP
Odd, it's working fine for me. Try clearing your browser cache or using another browser. Or try restarting the computer. (That's the second time it has done that without me knowing...)
The board Artwork, Music, Fan-Fiction and Other Media and its subboard Pictures and Images are both being used to post visual fanart. I think we should merge the subboard with the parent board, using the parent for graphic art, so that's another extraneous board we will have eliminated.
If I delete a thread of a normal (non-moderator) user, will they still be able to see their own thread and the reason it was deleted? I saw a member re-post an advertisement for his forum after I deleted his first one, which is leading me to believe that the answer is no.
I think it would be a fine idea to allow everything. Members have the ability to delete visitor messages on their own profile pages, which can be employed if a message is too spammy.
I have to allow/deny all custom BB Codes to do that. Then again, the only one on there that would be bad is folks putting YouTube video embeds where they don't belong.
I added a new feature to the oekaki: time between the first time opening the applet and first submitting the art. *chuckles* You've got quite a few of 'em where you left it open overnight.
Don't worry, the applet has decent translations of the menus and such in multiple languages, including English, so you won't have to use it in Japanese.
I think I e-mailed your VRisDown email saying that Victory Road and Floatzel.net were down. You can disregard that . My connection to the site went down for several minutes (on multiple computers, while other sites still worked), but I seemed to be the only one experiencing that problem.
