    xD

Funny thing, my maths assignments are all the kind that you'd do it yourself at home, no references necessary. More of an hands-on approach.

As for web dev stuff, well,

    ---

Unexpected benefits of exFAT: even though a flash drive might be limited to 30 MB/s of read speed, a complete disk error scan with surface checks take seconds with just 2 GB.

Someone forgot to brickwall it. Is this a good thing?

A live-action movie based on Initial D was released in 2005.

Wait a second, this sounds awfully familiar... Like, awfully close to home.

    Did I watch it?

    What language was it in?

I've noticed that in IE9, pages with EV certificates (the kind that makes your address bar green) have the part in the address bar change from "Verified Company Name" to "Certificate Verification Authority" from time to time. (Was eBaying)

Also, because Microsoft put the padlock icon on the opposite side of the address bar, unlike a certain browser or two, they don't need to remove the favicon in the address bar - it'll never look right.

Now the cookies don't stick. o.O

    And they appear again.

64-bit IE is being weird when it comes to cookies and cache, and I can't pinpoint what's going on. (I think having the 32-bit IE loaded beforehand might have helped)

    5. If my program is currently supported under the Support Lifecycle policy, but my operating system is no longer supported, can I still receive support for the program? For example, can I receive support for Microsoft Office 2000 running on Microsoft Windows 98?

If the problem is specific to the program, Microsoft will provide support. If the problem is a result of the combination of the operating system and the program, that particular problem will not be supported.

My laptop draws 9.34 watts on idle at 100% brightness, and 14.29 watts while browsing the web and scrolling like there's no tomorrow.
The same laptop draws 7.17 watts on idle at 50% brightness, and 14.07 watts scrolling pages.
For minimal brightness, 6.48 watts, and 13.67 watts scrolling pages.

I think the screen is not the biggest power drain anymore these days...

Normal web browsing at 75% pegs it at around 10.97 watts, by the way, and it should last around 1:44 with only 57.6%... Three hours for 75%...?

Hope it lasts a bit longer with just 50% brightness. Either that, or maybe a calibration is in order for the battery. Maybe I should use a stopwatch and use the laptop from 100%... Whatever it is, once I get to my room in Singapore, I'm going to drain the laptop if it hasn't drained by then, recharge to 100% + 2 hours, unplug, run it down to 0% as much as I can (including the use of Recovery Tools/Windows if possible), and... rechaaaaarge

480 Mbps, with a resulting real-world speed of 20 MB/s connection on my external makes me feel like it should have been smoking others. It's a USB 3 drive, but my MacBook Air can't do that. >.<

That is, unless I use a Thunderbolt-to-USB3 adapter... Then it's the entire drive's physical speed (~50 MB/s) (out of an amazing/overkill 20 Gbps theoretical bandwidth)! Just, uh... where to start? Apple doesn't sell them, obviously.

Meghan McCarthy was included on a writers panel over at Nerdist. Included in the mix is more confirmation that season 3 is in fact 13 episodes, as well as a more in depth look at the writing aspect of a Friendship is Magic episode.

(And since everyone is freaking out in the comments, season 3 was finished quite a while ago, and as far as I can see, Meghan is still working at DHX, so you can be pretty sure there are more episodes, or a movie, after season 3.)

Do you think we can push support for Challonge in the use of future tournaments? I find it a highly convenient alternative to bracketmaker.

    Microsoft Office 2013

    Transitions, transitions everywhere

    It's so pretty

The only bad thing is the system requirements have something unexpected: DirectX 10-capable GPU. Remember when productivity suites just needed a semi-decent OS to run?

    ---

My experience with the installer: next, next, next, watch a video, it's done

    ---

Noisiest installer for office productivity software?

    ---

I think Office 2013 was designed for ease of use to good old consumers, like students and people that just want to read things quickly, given the random features. (direct video embeds using HTML? A reading mode for continuous scrolling views?)

    ---

I see Outlook 2013 is now a weather app.

    ---

Did you know that there's usually a third set of assets designed for high-contrast modes that come with Windows? It's a great way to send most apps into light-on-dark territory. It also has the nice side effect of making Office 2013 use 4bpp icons. You know, the ones that came with Office 95?
