Fortunately, I did find a workaround for transferring files to my IBM over LAN: I had forgotten that a web server protocol was installed along with Mac OS X, so I just whipped up a quick web site with links to the files I wanted to transfer, and I was able to "download" them to my IBM's desktop.

On a more awesome note, I found out that the IBM is strong enough to play MP3's using WinAmp.

Speaking of business-class laptops, I finally got Windows 98 to recognize my PC card Ethernet/56K Modem adapter... now it's just a matter of figuring out how to set up file sharing between my MacBook and the ThinkPad.

You know what I think of the current browser wars?

I'm thinking of "good guys that make the browsers" and "malware makers and hijackers" as the only sides that truly matter.

Just like what the IE team thought during the IE 7 days.

Not really sure, although I think Apple keeps a closed fist on the iPhone so they could try to control their customers. I'll put up with their totalitarianism for one year, and after that, I'm disappearing from the grid.

Pretty much everything required XP by that point though it mostly involves code written with Windows 98 in mind

There is a game that has the system requirement to be:
    windows 98/ME/2000/XP/Vista/7
    2.4 GHz P4
    1 GB of RAM
and the list of supported cards include Thoth the NVIDIA 8 series and ATI ancient ones

Yeah, lately I've been monkeying with a 15-year-old laptop... it's an IBM ThinkPad 385ED, with a Pentium MMX, 2.1 GB in hard disk space, and what I presume to be 48 MB of total RAM. Everything seems to work fine, except it won't let me boot into Windows. Not a difficult problem to fix, because I looked up the error code it gave me, and here, the BIOS battery had died. Hopefully, I'll have a chance to get out and buy a replacement battery. :3
