There's a lot to cover in this post, so please read over the following announcements carefully:

1) First and foremost, it is unfortunate that we have to say goodbye to Sunny, the Normal-type gym leader. His inactivity both on the forums and in his gym has lead all the Gym League staff members to unanimously agree on eliminating his gym. Application for the empty spot is now open if you are interested.

2) Instead of allowing the usage of both Shoddy Battle and Pokémon (DISALLOWED) as the official simulators for the Gym League, from now onwards battles will be conducted on Pokémon (DISALLOWED) ONLY. This is because Shoddy Battle is completely outclassed by Pokémon (DISALLOWED), so there's no point in keeping the former.

3) Because of the release of Pokémon Black and White, the Gym League will very soon accept Gen V battles BUT ONLY ON POKémon (DISALLOWED). Before you protest against this decision, please read the following information about the Wi-Fi battles in Pokémon Black and White:

Flat Battle, on the other hand, forces you to only use three Pokémon, which are all levelled to level 50. Certain species are banned, so some OU Pokémon like Jirachi, Mew and Celebi can't be used, either.

If, however, they are above 50, they will be automatically elevated to level 50.

Theoretically, this means that competitive battlers should raise their Pokemon to level 50 at least - something which I personally wouldn't want. Deciding to twist the rules of the standard metagame to match these horrible changes will only complicate matters for us and the challengers. Therefore, Gen V battles will have to be conducted on Pokémon (DISALLOWED) only.
Since everyone has access to the Internet via a computer, it will be assumed that the majority of the gym leaders, if not all of them, will be able to hold battles on Pokémon (DISALLOWED). Actually, the Gym League staff will later discuss if having Pokémon (DISALLOWED) should become a future requirement for all applicants registering for a gym leader position.

4) Gen V battles will be mandatory for every gym leader. Gen IV battles, on the other hand, are optional: it's up to the gym leader whether he/she wants to allow them in his/her gym or not.

5) It is extremely important to note that, since Smogon did not release the official Gen V metagame yet, Gen V battles will not be held immediately. If Smogon takes too long to establish the new metagame, we will have to create our own OU list to the best of our abilities.

6) Regarding Dream World abilities: only released Dream World abilities will be allowed. Therefore, the official tier for all battles held on Pokémon (DISALLOWED) will be WiFi.

7) Gym leaders will be given a good amount of time to organize themselves for Gen V battles and update their gyms, so there's no need to rush any of them.
