Just download it anywhere on your computer(I recommend your Downloads folder) then double-click the icon and install it. Once it's complete you can delete the downloaded program, because once it's installed you dont need the thing you installed before.

Suuure. For Mods and kicking it's easier to access with F7, but you wouldnt be able to access it that way.
Download it and try it out yourself instead of and asking questions that would probably be answered if you read the first post. :V |

9.1 is now out! Features:
- Tournaments merged into Wi-Fi - (closed) renamed to **** - Fixed spelling mistake: "Exlclaim" > "Exclaim" - Percent codes (such as %20 becoming a space in URLs) now are retained as percent codes instead of being decoded into characters. This especially fixes links. - VictoryBattles link added - Mekahz link removed - Pokédex link updated - Archive link updated - View Top Posters link added - Posting moved to a background process, so it runs faster after making a post |

Fixed a huge problem with dead refreshing. Posting on the forum ChatBox would not update the HTML for the program, because FreezeWarp restored the original code of the forum ChatBox. I had to go back in and add the refresh code. It's fixed now.

You might've clicked it while HiVelocity was doing scheduled maintenance, and my server was briefly shut down only a couple minutes before your post. It has been up at the same link (which has been up) pretty much since I started the VRC project. |

So you can check out the info about the program without blindly downloading.

Oh, I found out how to fix those errors saying that the chat site went down (it almost always didn't). Only two problems:
I'm thinking about having the next version put up a different prompt. Quote:
For those curious, it's the hosts file. I suggest not manually editing it unless you know what you are doing. Specifying the wrong IP address could result in sites not working. Sometimes, a restart is required to reverse the effects, as well. The hosts file affects all non-proxied Internet-bound programs on your computer. Well, I got the download to work, but now I'm getting an error that hasn't been reported yet (and this time I have the .NET framework installed).
That happens when I try to log in or close the program. Last edited by NismoZ; September 8, 2010 at 11:23:41 AM. |

Here's a feature that I'd probably like: our (shrunken) forum avatars showing up with our name next to our messages. It would be toggle-able, probably turned off by default, since it spaces the messages out a lot. I'd love the feature, though . Makes it easy to distinguish yourself and others.

I've probably suggested something similar before, but maybe we can have the forum themes available for the chat? |

I've actually wanted exactly the opposite with regards to the background color for the chat window. People used to using dark colors forces those using the Fblue theme on VR to have to either switch themes or fire up the program. I've wanted the background color to always be white. Another trouble is folks using dark-colored backgrounds will use things like white, yellow, light green, and such, and then everyone with light-colored backgrounds will complain. However, a nice "invert colors" button would be a good way to make all the colors work well for that. I don't know, I just don't like dark-colored backgrounds in the chatroom when you can choose colors, and most of them are dark.
Theming the buttons and such in the program may be possible, though. Last edited by Cat333Pokémon; September 11, 2010 at 03:35:24 PM. |

Eh, it's probably a bug with VRC (whatever it is; I arrived after the edit). Chances are, Cat'll fix it.
Also, some development news about VRC 10.0: If you haven't looked at either of our user pages in quite some time, I've been collaborating with Cat about a Mac OS X version of VRC! So far, no progress other than idea planning has ocurred on it (we're discussing stuff like actually getting him a working copy of OS X to use), but it's definitely on the horizon now. We're also talking about some minor interface tweaks and whether he should rewrite the program in C++ or something else. I did a little mockup of the program in Interface Builder (part of the OS X software dev kit), which might give you guys an idea of how it'll look when complete:
THIS IS NOT THE REAL THING. DON'T DELUDE YOURSELF HERE

Yes, 10.0 will be a complete rewrite. I do have a backup of the 9.5 code, however, so I might still do some background bugfixes for the 9.x series.
Is it just me or is there a nice coincidence here? The Mac OS series went by the version number until 10, then they used the Roman numeral X and just added decimal points (10.1, 10.2, etc.). Last edited by Cat333Pokémon; October 5, 2010 at 01:40:33 PM. |

I also noticed that and thought it funny. I think that if you use the completely rewritten base, you should call it (i)VRC X 10.0 and then for each subsequent update to the code just add a decimal. X just sounds cooler than 10.0, which is a great justification for doing it

Found a bug. After posting a link to http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=the+game+ it became http://" target="_blank"> http://ww...he+game+:faec:, which, if clicked on through VRC, would give a script error, open up that page in the chat window, and would go back to the chat after it refreshes, with every link orange and Victini Bot's text unformatted orange. If you then closed the window it says that the program is missing a Windows component (when it actually isn't).

There appear to be two different problems occuring in that image. The first of which is the faulty smilie control with URLs. The two do not work well together. That one is a serverside thing. (Yes, it can be fixed.) The second is a stylesheet override. That typically happens when your computer redirects the traffic to another page or the CSS of the page becomes damaged for some reason.

Well actually, since the new program's to be written in C++ with Objective-C used to tie the core of the program to the interface, it's theoretically possible we can port the program over to iOS and maybe Android. That's very circumstantial, though, and probably won't happen in the future. That being said, though, it might be possible to release it on Cydia or maybe even the App Store if such an app ever comes to fruition.

And I know getting it into the App Store is highly unlikely, but possibly it could be circulated on the jailbroken repositories. |

Maybe for 10.0 Staff(& of course (closed)) could be hidden for normal members. I swear 9/10 times I click Staff instead /b/uizel.

We've finally hit 2,000,000 chat posts! Unfortunately we won't know who got it since nobody can prove it since there was major spammage in /b/uizel to get it.
EDIT: It looks like people have agreed that Kurusu Lapras got the post, in a spam-blast in /b/uizel. (: Last edited by Ningamer; December 27, 2010 at 01:38:23 AM. |

Congrats, Kurusu Lapras, on claiming #2,000,000!

Kurusu Lapras, I was there and I saw your post in /b/uizel, and I agree that you did get the 2,000,000th post.
And Kurusu, thanks for proving me wrong when I said, I will get 2,000,000. (I said that when Fubab got the 1,000,000th post with his "LOL") Oh well I'm now aiming for post 3,000,000. |

Well the testing is a bit ugly in there, I think it should purged and just start a new archive.
VRC could just die, but the archive could be there, just no-one could access it... Unless you want to merge the archives, you should get rid of the current VRIM archive before you do merge. (I'm serious it's just a bunch of "test" and "spam" posts) |

I'll probably grab the archive from Freeze (as there was a bit of advice sharing in there too) and then ask for a final purge before publicly opening it. The transition could be a little tricky, but killing the old chat program by putting up a message about the new one shouldn't be too bad, as that's the same way I force upgrades for security fixes.
