For any of you who are interested in biology or medicine, The Brain Observatory is currently at work dissecting the brain of chronic amnesia patient "H.M.," who suffered from an inability to develop new long-term memories as a result of a procedure that removed part of his brain to stop seizures. The organization is streaming their work live at
this website. It's actually pretty amazing to watch, although it's definitely not for the easily nauseated. The researchers hope to gain some valuable insight into memory through this cross-section and analysis, since H.M. was a special case whose brain was wanted for some time prior to his death.
