Ah... Hillarious. For those who don't know what Linux is, its a GPL-licensed piece of open-source software that replaces Windows or Mac OS X as your operating system. It has made significant progress recently, and is developed largely by volunteers. It is most notable for being free and open, although does not have the corporate backing and support you get with Windows. Certain distributions, or version of the software modified to actually be useful for the user, may have support (like Ubuntu), and others may have a premium version (like Mandriva). In general, it is debatable whether it can be successful on the desktop, however has become very much so on Netbooks and Android-based devices (like the Nexus One), which increasingly run Linux. As a bottom line, Linux currently is more for geeks and power users.
As for the message, I'm not sure how much this guy actually understand what Windows itself is. It doesn't "run" the computer, it just sends it instructions and receives replies.
