Default According to the dictionary, “literally” now also means “figuratively”

When I found out about this my head literally exploded.

A bunch of stupid people misuse the word to exaggerate what they mean, so let's change the word to the EXACT opposite? Seems legit.

Yeah, right.

Oh wait, that expression ("yeah, right") fits in the same blanket.

Why do they add colloquialisms to the dictionary? They gonna turn it into a slang-dictionary? This is just like adding "ain't" (which I still don't believe is a real word) only worse.

Isn't slang how language has evolved, though?

With modifying, augmenting, contracting, expanding, and experimenting it has. I'm sure in I'unno how many years no one will pay that any attention. But giving antonyms the same definition and using that hood-contraction... some things just bother my soul.

My head figuratively literally exploded, but not literally literally.

I guess if enough people do something incorrectly it becomes correct. I believe 'irregardless" became a word as well, which is equally embarrassing...

Clearly, this means we have to create a new word which means, "literally, but not figuratively; like, actually happened. (also this word can't be used ironically or as a replacement for figuratively)"

Or legitimately. Or truthfully. Or genuinely.
But I still prefer literally so frowns all around.

Or "Seriously"; that's what my family uses. Though, we don't use "Literally" very much.

It's a good thing the English language is (unnecessarily) large and has plenty synonyms for each word.

But hey, what about that word "twerk" or "twerking"? It's been circulating more. If it still remains popular you might see THAT in the dictionary in a few years.

The Oxford Online Dictionary recently added 'twerk' as an English-language word.

...Well damn. I don't know what to do now. I give up. But maybe this opens up an opportunity to use my creative license... let's start making crazy new words, they can't stop us now!

Shocking development! Oxford Dictionaries Online also added a bunch of other internet slang words (selfie, derp, tl;dr) with frequent use. They say it's to keep up with modern lingo, and no plans to add it to the OED.

OH GOD NO! NO! NOOOO!!! Oh well, wynaut.

Edit: Wait, why? I thought figurative meant like "figure it" in your head or something. Like imagination. And literally being literal. Obviously I'm missing something, here...

**Oh, I see why now. NVM, GOT IT.
