Default Experience Points Calculator (v1.1)

I have created a calculator designed for Pokémon Black and White, although parts of it will work for previous versions of the Pokémon games, that will allow you to figure out exactly how many experience points a Pokémon will need to reach a given level. The formula is incorrect, however, on the gain after defeat.

The current version (v1.1) supports:

- Exp. points at current level
- Exp. points to next level
- Exp. points at level 100
- Exp. points gained by defeating a Pokémon

Changes since v1:

- Updated Exp. yield to be correct

It is currently only available for Microsoft Excel 2007 and 2010. Additional file formats may be available in the future. For those with older versions of Excel or who do not have a copy of Excel, please download Excel Viewer. This program does not work in OpenOffice.org Calc.

Ooh, an EXP Calculator! Something useful. Thanks, Cat!

I just tried it, but it didn't quite work properly with me; in other words, the resulting number of experience points did not match what I actually got in the game. Could you perhaps provide a brief explanation on how to use it?

Despite that, I like that the idea is original and useful, so well done.

Would you mind providing as many details as possible, especially which Pokémon were being used?

Also, what game are you playing? At the moment, that box ONLY works for Black and White.

Edit: Make sure you have Battle Participants set to 1 if it never switched. I have uploaded a new version with it set to 1 by default.

The formulas need some tweaking. Just like Shadow, the EXP gained in game did not match the calculator's output. My tests show that the actual EXP gain is below the output by the calculator.

Again, there is no way I can fix it unless you give me examples. What Pokémon were you using, what is its level, what was it against? And which formula? There are five numbers that are generated.

I can hardly remember the inputs right now, but I'll try it again very soon and provide you with all the details required.

Even after the update, it's still the same. EXAMPLE: My Pokemon is a lv 51 Zekrom owned by me and not holding a Lucky Egg and is the only participant against a lv 24 Herdier owned by a trainer. According to the calculator, I should have received 460 EXP points. In the game I only got 360 EXP points.

I can confirm it is incorrect. I can also confirm the formula on Bulbapedia is incorrect. I found out some ratios of incorrectness based on levels, but I can't quite submit anything. The numbers on the left side are still correct, however, to my knowledge.

I'm glad to hear you starting to figure it out. I can understand if it will take a while before an Excel Macro/program with the correct formula(s) gets released. Until then, I can wait.
